When to book Newborn Photo Session
“How soon should I book my Newborn Portrait Session?”
Great question and one I get asked often.
My answer is always “Let’s get you on my calendar now so we can reserve a spot for you. We’ll tentatively schedule it for your due date since we don’t know exactly when baby will arrive.”
I like to try and shoot within the first two weeks after your baby is born. But sometimes we need to shoot after those first two weeks and that’s okay too. Circumstances like having to spend time in the NICU or needing more time to settle in at home after baby arrives are totally common and normal.
These easy steps will get you all set with your Newborn Session so you can check that off your list of things to do before baby arrives ;)
BOOK YOUR SESSION through my online calendar on my website
Choose your due date as the date for your session (or the next available date near it)
Include a note in the message section to let me know this is your due date
I’ll send you my 15 page Session Guide with all the info you’ll need to prepare
After baby arrives, send me a message so we can look at our calendars to choose the official date for your newborn session.
That first year is goes by fast (but seems so long at the same time).
There’s that saying “The nights are long but the years are short”
In my experience as a mama to 3 littles, I relate 100% with this saying.
And during that first year for each of my babies I repeatedly reminded myself “the nights are long but the years are short” while I was going through the normal challenges.
There’s no doubt that the memories of those 12 months get foggy.
That’s where I come in with my camera to help.
My Baby’s First Year Package includes 3 sessions, all the digital photos from each session and a beautiful album to showcase your favorite photos from that first year.
During your Newborn Session I’ll also take video clips and create a beautiful film so you can remember this sweet stage (it goes fast, trust me!).
The little sounds and movements your newborn baby makes will quickly change as they grow up and be gone forever. With your film you’ll be able to remember this adorableness for the rest of your lives.
You’ll have the option to purchase your film (no obligation) when you purchase your digital photos.
You may be asking “How long does a newborn session last?”
Well, for example, the session featured in this post was shot on a Wednesday morning in the comfort of their own home from 9am to 10:30am. And one week later we gathered at my studio to view their edited photos and film. View their 3 minute film below!
