What to Wear at your Family Photo Session

Choosing your outfits can be a daunting task.

Where do you start?

Should you wear matching colors?

How dressy should it be?

Will the kiddos even keep their clothes clean long enough to get a good photo?

All of these questions can come up while you’re deciding on what to wear.

Well let me take away the stress and make it easy for you.

Use these 5 steps to easily pick what to wear at your family portrait session:

Step 1: Pick Mom’s outfit first. Maybe a dress or blouse in a trending color. Consider that you need to feel comfortable enough to move around with the kiddos. We’ll be walking, sitting and playing during your session.

Step 2: Find tops for the kiddos that have accent colors from Mom’s dress. Most importantly, AVOID MATCHING, CHOOSE COMPLIMENTARY SHADES INSTEAD. And stay away from tops with words or graphics. No cartoon characters as they will be distracting in the photos.

Step 3: Dad’s outfit is usually the easiest so it can be pieced in after everyone else is settled.

Step 4: Pick out some accessories. Some examples: a bow for daughter’s hair, necklace and earrings for Mom, a cute hat for son and a belt for Dad.

Step 5: Wash and iron chosen outfits and tuck them away in the closet so they don’t get dirty or lost.

As far as how dressy… a dress, slacks or nice jeans, button up shirts - these are all appropriate.
